What is Report Writing:
Reporting or Report Writing is another necessary exercise for developing a student’s concept of his or her surrendering and skill in writing.
Reporting or Report Writing means a written Report on any event, situation or matter. This may cover incidents or events like a accident, theft, fire, drowning, flood, earthquake, cyclone, event or ceremony, alarming issues etc.
There may also be another type of reporting. This is report of some conversation or dialogue. We may hear a conversation or dialogue between two or more persons. We report this to other people.
Types of Report:
Report may be different types. Some of them are – (a) General Report, (b) News Report, (c) Letter Report.
(a) General Report: General Reports tell about the individual experience of some event or incident. Such reports may be written in first person.
(b) News Report: News Reports are published in some newspaper or journal. They may cover any matter or event for the public information or interest.
(c) Letter Reports: Letter Reports are in the form of some letters about some affair of public interest or inconvenience. They are generally addressed to some high authority.
Necessary Points in Report Writing:
(i) At first highlight the subject of the Report with a catchy title
(ii) Mention the date and place of the Report.
(iii) Summarise what happened to arouse the reader’s interest in the first stanza.
(iv) Narrate the event by providing important information. Make sure that the main idea should remain consistent throughout. Moreover, Report must be comprehensive and convincing. This means that the Report must cover all relevant facts – date, time, cause, occasion and so on.
(v) Finally, Report must be free from grammatical errors and other mistakes.

Howrah, 5th November: At least five persons including a child and a woman were injured when a private bus heading towards Durgapur hit a stationary truck on the National Highway, Howrah today. The Accident occurred around 1 p.m as the driver of the bus lost his control when the brake of the bus failed. The injured persons were taken to the nearby hospital with the help of the locals and were released after the first aid as their injuries were not serious.
However, the accident created unrest among the local people who blocked the road to stage their protest. Tge traffic, therefore, was disrupted for an hour. The police reached the spot and restored normalcy

Three Kids Hurt in Accident

Kolkata, 6th August: At least three school girls were injured when a pool-car rammed into another vehicle in Kolkata today at around 3 p.m. The girls were the students of Kolkata Girls’ School situated at Lake town. The accident took place at VIP Road around at about 3 p.m when eight nursery girl students were returning home in a pool-car. The driver of the car was allegedly driving the car at a breakneck speed and could not control the car while overtaking a car and collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction.
Soon after the accident, locals assembled there and stretched their helping hands in rescue act. The injured kids were taken to a nearby nursing home. Two of them were discharged later in the day after treatment while the others were shifted to a government hospital. The driver of the car was caught by the people while trying to flee away from the spot. The police came to the spot immediately and restored normalcy quickly.
