● In ancient times, in the Gurukula system of education the students went to their Guru to have his education. There were no classrooms. The few students would be seated around their Guru in the open air under the trees to take their lessons. Very few books were used. Like the education which Plato loved in Athens, the greater part is carried on through conversation. The students soon learn to open out their difficulties to their teachers and the teachers get keenly interested in the student’s participation in the lesson. Such living education can never be dull.
● But today we are living in a time of remarkable innovation of science and technology where we are kept on talking about an educational revolution. We are witnessing a radical transformation from formal classroom education system to virtual classroom system. There is no doubt that it is the newest way of education system that will empower or enlighten the students specially considering the pandemic situation of COVID-19. Different colleges, universities and schools have accepted the new methodologies of teaching and learning through Virtual Education
● Now, what is Virtual Education?
Virtual Education is based on the internet related technology where a software is used to bring communication between the teachers and the students who may not present geographically at the same place and can take part in teaching and learning system. In the Virtual Education teaching aids like chalk, duster, pen , pencil etc are replaced with technical tools like computer, camera, microphone, speaker etc.
● Advantages of Virtual Education
In the age of high-speed internet, Virtual Education has stepped into the mark slowly and steadily due to its numerous advantages. The students and the teachers both can save their time by participating in the Virtual Classroom from their respective houses. They can fix the time of teaching and learning according to their own will. As it is virtual, so a number of classrooms can be created at the same time where there may be a single student and teacher or multiple teachers and students.
Moreover, in the Virtual Education the teachers can have the availability to use the lesson based audio video slides to make the lesson more attractive. Not only that the students can have the privilege of interacting with highly experienced lecturers, professors crossing the barrier of geographical distance. At the same time, there is also innovative chances of learning recitation, singing, dancing and other extracurricular activities.
● Disadvantages of Virtual Education
Though countries have been focusing on online virtual education system in the pandemic situation of COVID-19 ; but according to the Noble Prize winner economist, Esther Duflo this online virtual education is hard to implement in most of the developing countries where the internet facilitates are to yet reach in the poor section of the society.
According to her, very few privilege class of society will take the advantage of online virtual Education system. Moreover, in the virtual classroom system the students and the teachers have the limitations of interactive participation. The teachers and the students are being at different places, the learning process will not be reciprocal.
So many educationalists are of the opinion that the Virtual Education can not completely replace the conventional education where in the study of physics, chemistry, biology the more importance is given on the practical learning.

We can conclude with a view that with the ever changing passage of time both online and offline education will be complementing each other judiciously.
