A Visit to a Hill Station
Last year during the summer vacation I, along with my family members decided to visit Spiti Valley. Spiti Valley is a place situated in the lap of nature, standing still in time, where everything seems to be straight out of a painting. Spiti Valley is a place located high in the Himalayas in the north-eastern part of the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh where we go to experience the thrill as well as peace at the same time.Â
Though our first destination was Shimla, but the final or main destination of our trip was Kaza, a small city located in the valley of river Spiti. So, we started for Shimla on 18th May from Howrah by Amritsar Mail. It took two nights to reach Ambala and by car we reached Shimla in the afternoon.
The first thing that struck to me was the cool refreshing breeze. That was a welcome change from the hot loo that we had left behind in Kolkata. As it was afternoon, we spent our time by roaming in the famous Shimla Mall and Shimla Kalibari. Next morning, we started our journey for Sarahan.
After reaching, we went to see the famous Bhimakali Temple of Sarahan. It was very peaceful temple. Next day we started for Sangla (Kinnaur district). The main tourist spot of the place was Kamru Fort. The next day we started for Chitkul whose height was about 3500 metres. The view from there was just like a painting. It is a nice place for those who want calm and serenity from busy monotonous life.
The very next day we went to Kalpa to see the scenic beauty of the Kinnaur Kailash mountain. At Kalpa, we stayed in the midst of apple orchard. We were mesmerized by the sight of the setting sunâs illumination to the peaks of Kinnaur Kailash in golden rays.
Finally, the next day it was our turn to start for an adventurous journey to Spiti Valley. The roads had sharp and steep turns. The route from Kalpa to Kaza was a great one. It was covered with mountains on all sides. There were flowing glaciers along the mountains. It looked breathtaking down the Valley. After that we went to Hikkim, in which the highest post office of India is located.
On our way back we went to see the Tabo Monastery which is marked as UNOâs world heritage site. Next day we returned straight to Shimla. After staying for one day at Shimla, we bade good-bye to mountains and returned to Chandigarh to board our train. The trip was a very memorable one.
A Visit to a Hill Station
Last year during the summer vacation, I along with my family members decided to visit Mussoorie. It is a hill station in the Garhwall Mountain in the lap of nature. It is known as the queen of the hills best holiday destination for peace lover. It is a nice place for those who want calm and serenity from the busy and bustle of life.
So, we boarded the Doon Express from Howrah one evening and after two nights we reached Dehradun in the morning. Dehradun to Mussoorie was a two-hour drive by car. The roads had sharp and steep turns. We just desperately clung to our seats. By 10 a.m, we were in Mussoorie.
The zigzag roads were covered with mountains on all sides. The cooling breeze from the hills refreshed us and kept away the tiredness of our journey. This was a welcome change from the hot loo that we just left behind in Kolkata. Trudding with our luggage, we set forth for the tourist lodge.
A little later we decided to go to the Gun Hill Top. The journey was indeed memorable for scenic beauty. It looked breathtaking down the valley. The next day we decided to see the sun rise. It seemed that the mountains were bathed with golden complexion of sun rise. Nothing looked more glittering and dazzling than that scenic beauty of the sun rise.
Later we started for Kempty Falls. The sparkle of the waterfall was indeed mesmerising. Small droplets of water struck us on the face. Children were having fun in little pools of water beside the waterfall. We also joined in the fun and got drenched. Next day we bade good-bye to the mountains and the memorable journey came to an end.
