Queen Mary, University of London was established in 1785 as the London Hospital Medical College. It is a London based public research university and a constituent college of the federal University of London. The university, with a student population of 16000, is divided into three schools:

Queen Mary University of London Scholarship for International Students:

1) Queen Mary Global Excellence Scholarships:

These scholarships, valued at £2000 each, are offered to eligible international students applying for the master’s or postgraduate program at the university’s School of Physics, School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science, School of Engineering and Material Science or the School of Biological and Chemical Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, BSc (Hons) Medical Genetics, BSc (Hons) Biochemistry, BSc (Hons) Biology with Psychology.

Queen Mary Global Excellence Scholarships are for the students who have been enrolled in the faculty of science and engineering at Queen Mary University of London. These scholarships are entitled for individuals who have an excellent academic history as well as have achieved first-class honours in their bachelor’s degree.

2) Westfield Trust Bursaries:

A small number of Westfield Trust Bursaries worth £2000 are available each year to students on selected taught postgraduate courses. Any applicant for admission to one of the selected courses will be automatically considered for a bursary at Queen Mary and there is no separate application form.

3) Queen Mary University of London – Capacity Building Scholarship:

Queen Mary is keen to contribute actively to the development of the higher education sector in Bangladesh, Pakistan, India and Turkey. Each of these scholarships will provide full tuition fees for full time PhD study at Queen Mary. The applicant must be a citizen of Bangladesh, Pakistan, India or Turkey.

4) China Scholarship Council (CSC)/ Queen Mary Joint PhD Scholarships:

Queen Mary offers joint PhD scholarships in co-operation with the China Scholarship Council (CSC) to eligible students from China. Under this scheme Queen Mary, University of London provides a scholarship to cover all tuition fees and the CSC provides living expenses and one return flight ticket to successful applicants. Applicants must be a student at any Chinese university or research institutions that are eligible for CSC scholarships.

Under the scholarship, you will get the tuition fees, living expenses and return flight ticket to after the completion of course. This scholarship is available for both new and existing students in the Queen Mary University.

Eligibility Criteria:

You need to meet the IELTS requirement for your course and send the proof to the Admissions office well before the CSC application deadline. So, it is strongly recommended that you take an approved English language test as early as possible. Your IELTS result must still be valid when you join the programme. IELTS scores are valid for 2 years.

5) Queen Mary Marshall Scholarships:

The marshal Aid Commemorative Commission has recently established a partnership with Queen Mary. The Queen Mary Marshall Scholarships were set up in order to finance young Americans of high ability to study for a degree at Queen Mary. These scholarships are for Graduate Study in any subject at either Masters or Doctoral level and will be for two years (with a possibility of a third year for doctoral studies).

Prospective students who are interested in applying for this scholarship but do not fit the eligibility criteria may still be considered for the general Marshall Scholarships Scheme. Under the general scheme at least forty scholars are selected each year to study either at graduate or occasionally undergraduate level at an UK institution in any field of study. Each scholarship is held for two years.

6) British Council Women in STEM Scholarships:

Queen Mary University of London, in partnership with the British Council, is offering five scholarships for Women in STEM. This scholarship is for master’s level study. It is open to students applying for any eligible one-year master’s programme. The scholarship is available for women from Indonesia, Myanmar, the Philippines, and Thailand. The award covers full overseas tuition fees, monthly living expenses, travel, visa, and other starting costs. Only five scholarships are available.

Eligibility Criteria:

To apply, you must be a woman and a citizen and permanent resident of Indonesia, Myanmar, the Philippines, or Thailand. You must meet the entry requirements of your chosen programme, including academic qualifications and English language skills. You must have completed an undergraduate degree before applying. You need to show that you require financial support. You cannot have studied or lived in the UK at degree level before at the same time you must return to your home country after finishing your studies within two years.
